We are created for relationships and do better physically and emotionally when we are in a loving, supportive relationship.  We are built for attachment.  No one desires conflict in their relationships.  It’s stressful, painful and disheartening.  It is possible to improve any relationship with individuals who want the relationship to improve.  The question is: how?

Dr. Chester has been trained in a variety of methods of marital counseling that have been shown to have a high degree of success with couples.  One is the Gottman method and the other is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy developed by Sue Johnson. Dr. Chester has also been trained in other areas of interpersonal psychology which she uses to assist couples who want the best relationship possible with each other.

When working with couples, Dr. Chester encourages out of session work.  She may ask couples to read a particular book that she believes would be helpful or try behaving or responding to one another in a different way than before.  She believes that there is power in behavior change.  When a different response or behavior is experienced, our thoughts about the relationship change.  Hope and possibility show up.  As thoughts and behaviors change for the better over time, the relationship becomes more secure, loving and enjoyable.  Exchange the frustration for love - give Dr. Chester a call and begin to move toward true connection in your relationship!
